A Dwarven Door
This is a giant project I'm working on. I got inspiration from The Hobbit and I think it'll be a cool idea. So, for now, I'm just making a simple schematic that I'm going to later move into a mountain world (with a few world generation nodes!). So, I'll work on some statues in the future but for now I'd like the door itself done. I think this'll be a good experience for me because it tests every skill I know about building in Minecraft. Redstone can be added because it would add to the sort of mysterious, hidden once-thriving civilization underneath the mountain.
My current "building" skills are:
• Naturalization
• Angles
• Natural Decoration (Vines, etc.)
• Redstone (of course)
• Randomization (mossy cobblestone, normal cobblestone, etc.)
• "Stairology" - A term my friend made because he uses stairs a lot in his building. Stairology is the "art" of placing stairs in nice areas to add detail, depth, and designs.
• Themed Builds
• Destruction (Making a build look less clean and more destroyed)
• Realism (applying gravity to the build, making supports in areas where needed)
^ All of these skills help you build really well and more realistically so it doesn't look as blocky as if you didn't use them at all.

Well, I hope you like my project! I worked really hard on it, and it took a really long time, so I hope this gets famous one day!

So this is the current bit I have. This will be moved into a mountain, like I said above. I'm thinking of making the inside as well, but it will be easier if I actually have the mountain, so I'll do that once it's moved (via MCEdit). I might work on a unique tileable design for the inside. But for now, AWESOME DECORATION! Once it's in the mountain, it will probably copy the air around the door so I'll have to do some extreme naturalization skills. Maybe make it look half-buried to add to the old dwarven look. I mean, this thing HAS been sitting here for 100+ years and being guarded by a dragon constantly making small earthquakes, so some rubble (stone) can be added for a nice destroyed effect.
Here's a size comparison. This thing is absolutely massive compared to the 2-meter tall Minecraft character.
Here's where I'm standing:

So, yeah, you can see I added a few more vines to the structure in this picture but there wasn't much time between the picture above and the first picture in this article.
Since the last time I updated the site (from now) I didn't do much work except for added a few additional vines, a start of decoration, and I installed a shader just recently. I used a shader pack combiner (much like forge except for shaders) called GLSL Shaders. The link can be found here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1544257-172174175shaders-mod-v2312-updated-by-karyonix/ - The shader I used was Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders which can be found here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/940974-172sonic-ethers-unbelievable-shaders-and-glsl-shaders-mod/
